Get your home Thanksgiving ready

Posted

The holidays are just around the corner. I don’t know about you but we will have a full house for Thanksgiving next week! Here are a few deep cleaning tips you can do in under an hour to get your house ready for your holiday guests.

Degunk your cabinets

Kitchen & bathroom cabinets can take a beating. Fill your sink with warm water and a little bit of dish soap. Grab a  washcloth and get to work! For the extra grimy areas add some baking soda to your washcloth for more scrubbing power!

 Refresh your microwave

Your microwave is one of the most used appliances in your kitchen, so its interior is most likely spotted with cooked-on food and liquid. Heat a cup of vinegar in a bowl for one minute on high. Allow to sit for several minutes before opening the door. Carefully remove the bowl. Use a damp, clean cloth, (even the one you just cleaned the cabinets with!) wipe out the inside of the microwave!

Get your refrigerator ready for leftovers

Toss anything that is expired or moldy, especially any fruits or veggies that are past being ripe or are starting to turn mushy. Throw out anything in your freezer that has freezer burn or has been stored for too long. Wipe down each shelf in the refrigerator and the freezer.
For leftovers, I like to stock up on reusable containers that will stack up well in my refrigerator or that I can send home with my guests!

Freshen up your guestroom for overnight guests!

First vacuum the mattress, then sprinkle baking soda mixed with a few drops of lavender essential oil on top. Let it sit for a couple of hours, then vacuum the mixture away!

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
